Paintings - Acrylic

Paintings made with acrylic paints have superior permanence.

The acrylic pigments used in acrylic paints were created eighty years ago and since that time they have become increasingly more developed and popular with many designers and artists. There are many positive attributes associated with these paints with hardly any downside. Acrylic paints are fast drying and have excellent permanence, they can be applied in thin glazes, plus acrylics do not crack like oil paints or fade like watercolor paints do. The only possible negative for some artists is that acrylic paint has a sheen when it is dry.

Mark Rothko, an abstract expressionist, and David Hockney a pop artist both used acrylic paints extensively. In fact, an acrylic painting by Mark Rothko sold at auction in two thousand seven for seventy two million dollars!
